Hispanic students comprised the most prevalent ethnic group in Concho County schools in the 2023-24 school year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of the 406 students attending Concho County schools, 60.1% were Hispanic. White students were the second largest ethnicity, making up 37.4% of the total enrollment.

In the previous school year, Hispanic students also made up the largest ethnic group in Concho County, comprising 56.3% of the student body.

Eden CISD and Paint Rock School had the most diverse student body in Concho County, including white, American Indian, Black, Asian, Hispanic, Pacific Islander, and multiracial.

When compared to the previous school year, total public school enrollment in the county dropped 7.1%.

“As a result, many districts in our very own Central Texas region are being forced to cut back on essential programs, services, consider school closures, and adopt deficit budgets just to provide students with the education that they deserve,” Hutto ISD Trustee James Matlock said.
