CITY OF SONORA: Texas Vaccine Availability Update

Coronavaccine

City of Sonora issued the following announcement on Dec. 31.

DSHS has updated information and resources related to COIVD-19 vaccine distribution. Please visit the new, interactive Texas COVID-19 Provider Location map on our website. As new weekly shipments of vaccine arrive in Texas, the map is updated to show the locations where vaccine has been sent.

DSHS and TDEM continue to stress the urgency of getting shots in arms, as quickly as possible in Texas.

Vaccine providers are encouraged to prioritize Phase 1A populations (health care workers, long term care staff/residents) but can start vaccinating people in Phase 1B (over 65, age 16+ with chronic medical condition) if they have vaccine available after vaccinating all available and willing people in Phase 1A. DSHS has posted additional guidance for vaccine providers.

DSHS’s main COVID-19 page encourages people in Phase 1B to use new provider location map, and to call ahead to confirm vaccine availability at their provider’s office, clinic or facility.

DSHS has also published a COVID-19 vaccine communications toolkit that includes videos and social media assets for our partners to use.

Attached please find talking points covering vaccine availability, distribution, safety and cost.
