Tom Green County Sheriff’s deputies assisted the San Angelo Police Department on April 20 in locating and arresting Tyler Drew Lafollette, a suspect wanted for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The incident began when deputies were asked to help find Lafollette after an alleged vehicle theft and assault earlier that day.

The case highlights the cooperation between local law enforcement agencies in addressing crime within the community. Authorities said such joint efforts are important for maintaining public safety.

Deputies found the stolen vehicle abandoned in the 1200 block of East 21st Street around 2:00 PM. While searching the area, they saw a suspicious individual on a bicycle who attempted to flee but was quickly apprehended. The suspect was identified as Lafollette, age 23, from San Angelo. Deputies recovered a stolen handgun from him and discovered he was also wanted on a Texas Blue Warrant.

Lafollette is currently being held at Tom Green County Jail facing charges including felon in possession of a firearm, evading arrest or detention (enhanced), and parole violations, with additional charges pending.

“This arrest is another excellent example of San Angelo’s local law enforcement working together to make our community a safer place to live and work,” said officials.
