Enrollment Analysis: African American students comprised 1.5% of Water Valley ISD schools' student body in 2022-23 school year

There were five African American students enrolled in Water Valley ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, the same number as the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Water Valley ISD schools welcomed 343 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, African American students comprised 1.5% of the student body to be one of the least represented ethnicities in the district.

Water Valley ISD roughly covers schools within Tom Green County and has a main office in Water Valley.

Among the five schools in Water Valley ISD schools, Water Valley School recorded the highest enrollment of African American students in the 2022-23 school year, with a total of four students.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
