Enrollment at Junction ISD schools decreased by 3.1% compared to previous school year

There were 619 students enrolled in Junction ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 3.1% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 50.2% of them were girls, and 49.8% were boys.

Data also shows that the majority of students were white, representing 60.1% of the Junction ISD total enrollment.

Junction ISD roughly covers schools within Kimble County with its main office in Junction.

Among the three schools in Junction ISD, Junction Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 303 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
