A historic 19th-century landmark in Hill Country will be getting some much-needed repair.
Restoration to the Seaquist House includes a new roof and gutter system. The project is made possible through a $25,000 grant from the Lower Colorado River Authority and the City of Mason, plus $63,650 in matching funds.
"Our goal is to restore this beautiful Victorian mansion to her glory so that it can be enjoyed by the community for social functions such as weddings, parties, meetings and other celebrations," Pat Dixon, Seaquist House Foundation president, said on the LCRA website.
The Seaquist House Foundation began fixing the three-story Victorian mansion five years ago. Since then, the foundation has removed debris, fixed windows and doors, updated the electrical system and added heating and air conditioning. The home, built in 1887, has a Texas state historical marker and is on the National Register of Historic Places. It has a ballroom and chapel.
