With the upcoming election growing ever closer, concerns continue to circulate not just about fraud in a universal mail-in election, but the potential that delays in the mail system, inaccuracies in the voter rolls and limitations faced by the county officials who will have to both verify and count every single ballot will leave the election open to elder abuse, missed votes, and endless legal challenges even after a vote count that could stretch on for weeks.

After implementing changes to the U.S. Postal Service, Postmaster General Louis DeJoy has decided to postpone all the changes coming to the USPS until after the general election.

But Beth Grounds, Concho County GOP chair, said DeJoy is acting prudently.

"[DeJoy's] just doing his job," Grounds told Concho Valley News in an email interview. "He is preventing tampering with the election."

While Grounds said DeJoy is just doing his job, she said she also has concerns about the removal of mail-sorting machines from USPS facilities.

"It is tampering with the U/S. Post Office," Grounds said. "It is one of the only dependable and trusted offices in America."

Even with the mail sorting machines being kept until after the election passes, Grounds doesn't think the USPS could handle the amount of mail coming in if it were to be a mail-in ballot election.

"I don’t think the postal service is equipped with the personnel and equipment to handle such an enormous amount of election mail," Grounds said. "Also it would be impossible to screen each ballot for voter authenticity."

Grounds believe mail-in voting for everyone isn't the best idea, especially for USPS. There could be fraud and many other issues.

"Mail-in voting for everyone is the worst idea yet! Talk about a rigged election," Grounds said. "Legitimate voters who do mail-in voting fall under certain requirements like being over 65, a handicap that prevents from voting in person and other legit reasons."
