The 180-megawatt Heart of Texas Wind Farm in McCulloch County has been completed by Scout Clean Energy.
According to Windpower Engineering & Development, Scout Clean Energy is a Colorado-based renewable energy company that has been constructing the Heart of Texas Wind Farm since September 2019. The company completed the construction after developing the 300-megawatt Ranchero Wind Farm in Crockett County.
“Heart of Texas was completed on time and under budget which is quite an achievement given the widespread disruption that COVID-19 has caused across the entire U.S. economy,” Michael Rucker, CEO and founder of Scout Clean Energy, told Windpower Engineering & Development. “It is a real credit to Scout’s construction management team, our suppliers, contractors and financiers who have worked tirelessly to get to the finish line. Reaching commercial operations at Heart of Texas brings Scout’s operational portfolio of wind energy generation to 698 megawatts with a further 146 megawatts under construction and more than 4,000 megawatts in our active development pipeline.”
The completed project has tax incentives with the county, hospital district and Lohn Independent School District, and is expected to bring in $35 million in annual tax revenues.
